Google DeepMind Research Ready is a pioneering new scheme supporting UK universities to deliver research placements that provide undergraduate students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups within engineering with research experience in artificial intelligence (AI), giving them the tools and opportunities to excel in the field of AI research.

Application:

The APRIL AI Hub seeks to appoint Undergraduate Interns. This position will report to Professor Themis Prodromakis within the School of Engineering.

Contract type:

  • Fixed-term (8 weeks) Hours per week: 35 
    • Stipend of £400 per student per week
    • Maintenance payment of £259 per week
    • Student travel of £225 per student to cover the entire placement
  • Start Date: 2nd June 2025

The Opportunity:

The appointee will be responsible for working on a project within the APRIL AI Hub with a research focus, assisting with data analysis, process improvement, and reporting findings. They will contribute to the relevant APRIL internship programme events and School activities. The successful applicant will have a background in Computer Science or Engineering, demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be capable of independent work. We encourage applications from underrepresented groups and from individuals from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • Penultimate year undergraduate students
  • Final year undergraduate students
  • And students that have already completed an undergraduate degree.
